Tips to apply for Student Visa in New Zealand

With the growing trend of studying abroad, students now consider all the prospects of a country before they opt for education there. Times have drastically changed and many countries have started new schemes for international students. Foreign universities nowadays welcome such students with open arms promoting diversity and globalization. While USA, UK, Canada and Australia top the list of educational immigrations, there are countries less talked about, that offer innumerable future scopes for students.

New Zealand being one such country has a low population density and is the second most peaceful nation in the world according to the Global Peace Index. With a point-based immigration system, settlement there depends on how well you score based on your key profile details (like age, language proficiency, education, experience, skills). When it comes to a student visa, you will be glad to know that New Zealand student visa also allows you to study in Australia up to 4 years. To obtain this visa you need to have the following requirements along with your documents:

  • Acceptance for a full-time course: you must have an acceptance letter from a registered and approved University/Institute.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds:  you should give an account of your sponsor or sponsoring Institute in order to prove evident funds for your stay. (Approx. NZ$ 10,000 per annum)
  • Proof of Return: you must present a plan to ensure that you will leave New Zealand after your educational period is over. A return ticket or funds to purchase it are sufficient as proofs.
  • Passport validation: your passport should be valid for at least 3 months after you have completed your course.
  • Clean Record: you must come clean in your background check without any criminal record or deporting case from any country.
  • No Severe Health Issue: you must be free from any serious long-term disease along with a medical and x-ray report proving your fitness.

Also, consider your eligibility criteria while applying for various institutes along with the conditions mentioned above. All the very best!
